Extend Your Living Space With Help From Steve Rolt
Our unique approach to designing and building your perfect extensions starts with a phone call.
If you love your home but find you are short of space, a house extension is the perfect solution.
You get extra room for your growing family, save on the expense of moving house and add value to your home in the process.
Working with Steve Rolt Home Improvements means you get a complete service from the beginning to the end of your project and a house extension built to your exact specifications. We will talk you through the options.
Do you want your extension to create an open-plan space that works well for entertaining or are you looking for a quiet room you can work from? We can work with your budget to get what really works for you.
We’re proud to provide house extensions in Hertfordshire, Essex and Cambridgeshire as well as the surrounding villages. If you’d like to check the standard of our home extension projects, we can put you in touch with one of our past customers.
Our Process
We will visit your property, talk through your ideas and organise a survey of the site, creating architects’ drawings so you can go through the fine detail before we start.
As well as working on the structure of your extension, we will help you choose the best materials for the internal fittings and incorporate the latest technology. Our FENSA registered window fitters will install the most efficient glazing such as bi-fold doors so that you can open up the room to your garden. Other qualified tradespeople, from NICEIC electricians to Gas Safe certified heating engineers will make sure that your home extension meets building regulations. That means that your new rooms are light, warm and safe.
You can expect regular appointments throughout the build and finally, our decorators will make sure your extension is finished to a high standard, ready for you to enjoy. You can relax knowing that your choices will work well for you and your family.
Planning Permission
You don’t need to apply for planning permission for many single-storey extension projects, so long as they fall within the rules of Permitted Development.
These rules allow you to build a single-storey side extension which is up to half the width of the existing house. Single-storey rear extensions can be built which are up to 4 metres out for a detached home or 3 metres for other houses. Under recent Relaxed Development rules single-storey rear extensions of up to 8 metres (detached) and 6 metres (other houses) are permissible, provided planning authorities are notified in advance. You should be aware that there are certain conditions to Permitted Development rights and any extension to your house since 1948 counts as part of the Permitted Development allowance.
For those that live in listed buildings or within a conservation area then you will need planning permission for your extension. We can help you to understand how the rules apply to you and manage the construction from start to finish.
